The UC Davis One Health Institute (OHI)  attracts students from around the world for research and training in wildlife health, including zoological medicine and pathology, emerging infectious disease, epidemiology and data modeling. Education paths in wildlife health at the OHI within the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine include:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Four-year program leading to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree with an emphasis in wildlife health. See information about admissions and admission requirements to the program at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.

Masters of Preventive Veterinary Medicine

Two-year program leading to the MPVM (Masters of Preventive Veterinary Medicine) that emphasizes wildlife health and wildlife epidemiology. This option is only open to graduate veterinarians.

Residencies

UC Davis offers residency programs in several areas pertinent to wildlife health, including free-ranging wildlife health, zoological medicine, and pathology.

MS/PhD

Most students enroll in a four-year program leading to the Ph.D. that emphasizes wildlife health and advanced research training in an appropriate academic discipline. Past students have received doctorate degrees in comparative pathology, epidemiology, ecology, genetics and pharmacology and toxicology. Students can choose one of our faculty members as their major professor for their masters thesis.
